Description:

An abstract short film about Sage, a lonely girl wandering through life, both figuratively and literally. She goes to the woods to perform a ritual to grant her wish of ending her loneliness. She wants to snap her fingers and solve all her problems, but her wish isn't granted in the way she expects. Instead, a spirit comes to guide her. Not to give her all the answers or an easy solution, but to give her a push in the right direction. The girl is resistant at first, but eventually the spirit gets through to her. There will be two days of filming. First in late April or very early May, and will be outside so it requires good weather. April 26th is the day that looks best right now. I know that's very short notice but the characters don't talk until towards the end of the short so there are no lines to learn for the first day! Second day is inside and will be filmed in May. There is no specific audition material, just let me know your availability and we can schedule a call!

The spirit is there to guide Sage, but she has her own arc as well. At first, she comes across to Sage very mysterious and hard to read, but internally she's just there to do her job. But after a while, she starts to care for this girl she's here to guide, and at the end the spirit finally speaks to Sage directly in an emotional scene that closes the short. The spirit takes multiple forms throughout the short, which gives a variety of challenges and standout moments.

Sage (Lead)Female18-24 y.o.Asian

It's essentially a character study, Sage is the center focus for the whole film. This is a very unique role as for the bulk of the film, there's no spoken dialogue but instead a poetic inner monologue from Sage, which will be recorded later. no voice acting experience necessary, it's pretty different than normal voice acting anyway. Sage and the spirit don't talk directly until the final scene, so there's lots of wordless interacting that places full emphasis on the physical performance
