About the project: "Florian's Lost Tapes" is an episodic queer coming of age fictional Podcast based on the album Pomegranate Boy by Florian Rose. It narrates the story behind the conceptual album, the characters and their relationships/power dynamics through a slice of life, found media format. Rate: Non union. Volunteer. All actors involved in the project will be properly credited. Additional information: Audition Location Online Only. Shoot/Performance Date(s) April/May. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Vancouver. An open minded caring frat boy with a heart of gold, and the leader of his improvised basketball team. He carries the burdens of past pains and projects them onto Florian, which kickstarts their friendship. He hides his depth under a facade of golden retriever energy.
A cold hearted, evasive and avoidant drug dealer with sociopathic tendencies and an opportunistic friendship with some members of Pete’s basketball team. He’s a pansexual impulsive punk who hides his affective insecurities under meaningless sex and anger. He sees Florian as prey until he realizes maybe they’re more akin than he first thought. Must have a velvety devious voice (think Peter J. Lewis from The No Sleep Podcast).
One of Pete’s basketball teammates. He hides the fact that he’s gay under layers of masculinity and inner pressure. He thinks of coming out as something that could ruin his life, so he fights to keep it under his skin. He sees Florian as his first chance to experiment with another guy, but turns out being more caring that he admits. Ideally with a soft latin accent.
One of Pete’s closest basketball teammates. He’s lively, clueless and as funny as he’s overbearing. He has a soft spot for his close friends, yet is a bit wary of Florian. He’s very respectful of Pete’s past trauma and cares deeply for him.
Additional Character. A caring, understanding and invested counsellor from Florian’s Highschool. He gives Florian an audio recorder as a gift thinking it would be good for his mental health.
A shallow, vain and judgemental girl who tried to date Pete as a status seeking move. She’s whiny and bitchy when things don’t go her way, and lacks interest in true connection.
The rest of Pete’s basketball team. They’re lively bros who like teasing their teammates and have fun. They deeply respect Pete. Ben is sharp and Finn distracted and oblivious.
