Acting Audition for Upcoming Projects
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. Directors are producing and directing a narrative driven spec later this month and they're looking to cast actors for five short vignettes about music and the moments it lives inside. See the details below. Rate: UBCP/ACTRA ULB or Non-Union. Unpaid. Copy, credit and meals provided. Additional information: Filming will be in Langley/Vancouver. Shooting March 21st in Langley and March 22nd in Vancouver. Actors will only be needed for a few hours on their respective shoot day, not both days. Look: Free-spirited, effortlessly charming. She radiates warmth and ease. Character: Young, in love, completely at home in the moment. She laughs easily and holds space with grace - not trying too hard, just naturally magnetic. Notes: Non-speaking role. Must be comfortable on a moving bike. Strong physical presence and chemistry with scene partner is essential.
Look: Relaxed, warm, confident. Character: The guy who makes everything look easy, navigating a bike with someone on the handlebars, laughing, totally unbothered. He is simply, genuinely happy. Notes: Non-speaking role. Must be able to safely ride a cruiser bike with a passenger on the handlebars. Strong chemistry with scene partner required.
Look: Retired. Character: This man IS joy. When the music comes on, the years fall away and the music takes over. He dances, totally unconsciousness, completely alive. Think a disco soul trapped in a grandfather's body. Notes: Non-speaking role. Must be genuinely comfortable dancing on camera. Dance experience preferred. Will work with a choreographer.
Will reflect older Mike's ethnicity. Look: Young, full of life, optimistic, fun loving. Character: Younger version of Mike - he is just starting out in life, and his favorite music is disco. He loves to spend his weekend nights at the club grooving with friends. Notes: Non-speaking role. Must be genuinely comfortable dancing on camera. Dance experience preferred. Will work with a choreographer.
Look: Respectable, put-together, professional. The contrast to the girls' chaos. Character: Watching these girls is a mirror for him - they are free, unencumbered, self-possessed. They embody something he lost, or maybe never had. There's longing in his face - as he is invited to join their jam, he sheds all inhibitions to reflect their own tenacity. Notes: Non-speaking role. Nuanced physical acting - the shift from curiosity to longing to total liberation needs to land without a single word.
Look: Casual. Someone who is understated. Character: Embodies grief with nowhere to go. He is not performing sadness and these are not fresh feeling - he has simply learned that life will always be a bit heavier after the loss of someone loved. He plays a song from the past, a song that's on a shared playlist from happier times. He sits and remembers the past at a grave, allowing the music to put him back to a different time, before loss and grief.
Look: Young, inexperienced, still in school. Character: Endearingly un-cool. Very much the underdog you root for. Flustered, earnest, sweet. Has good intentions, is happy-go-lucky. Notes: Speaking role (sides available). Strong comedic physical performance required. Must be comfortable playing awkward sincerely, not for laughs.
Look: The "hot" girl. Character: She genuinely likes Charlie - at least, she did. She came here with good intentions. Sweet, flirty, open. She is a nice person, but definitely more experienced and bound by societal expectations in this instance. Notes: Speaking role (sides available). Light comedic touch her exit has to land as funny and real at the same time.
