About the project: Floater is an experimental short horror film set in the point of view of a young girl. Kaylee has been brought to the hospital after waking up screaming and thrashing in the middle of the night. The doctor wishes to examine her but Kaylee refuses to open her eyes because believes that there was a monster in her room and that it's still there with them as they speak. If she opens her eyes, it will get her. Rate: Non union. Volunteer. Additional information: Audition Location TBA. Shoot/Performance Date(s) April 4th. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Vancouver. There will be two shoots. One to record Kaylee's dialogue as the film takes place entirely in her POV, and another to shoot playback with the other actors in the hospital room. This means that for the actor playing Kaylee, the date of recording can be flexible as they do not have to coincide with rest of the production. Submission Deadline March 10, 2026. The Doctor is a matter-of-fact professional with a gentle, empathetic tone for her young patient. She must make Kaylee trust her that everything is going to be okay. The role is open to any ethnicity.
Mom is frazzled, trying to keep herself together while supporting Kaylee and The Doctor to figure out what's happening to her. The role is open to any ethnicity and also open to any mother & daughter actors who wish to audition together.
The Man is hopefully just a manifestation of Kaylee's sleep paralysis. A tall, imposing figure. Long, wild hair preferred but not necessary. Makeup and possible prosthetic will be required for this role.
