Jake is the emotional anchor of the “before.” A gentle, playful father and devoted partner, he’s the kind of man whose presence makes a space feel safe—until that safety is ripped away. After Ava and Olivia vanish, Jake becomes a person defined by waiting: grief held in the body, love turned into ritual, hope slowly eroding into apology. “young dad energy”; can read as outdoorsy without being rugged cliché.
