About the project: Set in 1982 Hong Kong, a disciplined underground gambler who believes masculinity means carrying everything alone is forced to confront his pride when his wife defies his rules — challenging his understanding of strength, love, and partnership. Rate: Union & Non-Union; Unpaid/Volunteer; Meals/craft services, screen credit, and footage provided. Additional information: Director’s Note: "The GodGrandpa" is a restrained, emotionally grounded drama inspired by real family history and the visual language of 1980's Hong Kong cinema. Performances should favor internal conflict, silence, and emotional weight over melodrama. Tone: Gritty, restrained, emotionally intimate. Production Dates: February 28 – March 2, 2026. Location: North Vancouver & East Vancouver. Commitment: 1 rehearsal day (between February 19–25); 1–2 shoot days between February 28 – March 2.
