About the project: When a young Iranian man living abroad watches his girlfriend join protests back home through FaceTime, distance turns into helplessness as the call—and her life—are violently cut short. Araash, a young Iranian man living abroad, spends his nights on FaceTime with his girlfriend Kimiya, who is still in Iran. Their conversations are intimate, playful, and ordinary—until protests erupt outside her screen. As morality police flood the streets and internet blackouts begin, Araash is left glued to his phone, powerless and terrified. While news outlets and social media flood the world with images of uprising and violence, Araash’s reality collapses into waiting, pacing, and unanswered calls. When Kimiya joins the protests despite his pleas, the distance between them becomes unbearable. A single video call turns into a live witness to state violence, ending abruptly in gunfire. By the time Araash hears the truth from Kimiya’s mother, hope has already vanished. What remains is grief, silence, and the unbearable weight of surviving from afar while freedom is killed at home. FARSI REQUIRED. Araash is emotionally open, intelligent, and deeply connected to home despite living abroad. The performance relies heavily on reactive acting—listening, fear, restraint, and delayed emotional collapse rather than explosive moments. Actor must be comfortable carrying long scenes alone on camera and acting opposite a phone screen. Key Traits: Naturalistic, grounded presence; Strong emotional control; Ability to convey panic without melodrama.
FARSI REQUIRED. Kimiya is warm, defiant, and alive with purpose. She is playful in private but fearless in public. The actor must balance intimacy with conviction, and believably shift from casual conversation to political urgency under real danger. Comfort performing handheld/self-shot style is essential. Key Traits: Emotional warmth; Quiet bravery; Strong screen presence even in close-up.
Kimiya’s father or mother. Their final phone call delivers the emotional climax of the film. The performance must feel raw, unfiltered, and devastating without being performative. Key Traits: Raw emotional authenticity; Ability to convey grief vocally; No melodrama.
