Singer Needed for Gig "Anastasia"
Looking to cast males and females for "Anastasia" the musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Based on the beloved animated movie from 20th Century Fox, Anastasia is both a heartwarming and heart-wrenching dive into one of history’s biggest mysteries: what happened to Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov? Set amidst the turmoil of the Russian revolution, Anya, an amnesiac orphan stranded in what was once the Russian capital, St. Petersburg, is on a quest to rediscover her past which she believes lies in Paris. Joined by a dashing conman, Dmitry, and an ex-aristocrat, Vlad Popov, who want to use Anya to bamboozle the only remaining Romanov, Dowager Empress Marie into believing that Anya is the lost Anastasia, she escapes to Paris with a determined Soviet officer on their heels. Including classic songs from the motion picture like “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December,” Anastasia explores one determined girl’s journey to find home, love, and family as she discovers who she was and embraces who she is meant to be. 20 role s
Lead Vocal Range: G3 - F5. Disney-esque Soprano.Dance Requirement: Some movement Anya is brave, fiery, witty, and above all determined. With no memory of her life before age 17 and having lived through the horrors of the Bolshevik Revolution, Anya jumps at the sound of gunshots and is distrustful of strangers, but there is steel hiding just beneath the surface. Anya is strong-willed and compassionate. Her mantra, “Home, love, family” is her goal.
Lead Vocal Range: A2 - A4. Some movement Dmitry is a scoundrel with a heart of gold. A street rat who grew into a conman, Dmitry is determined to get out of poverty and is not above lying, cheating, and stealing to do so–that is until he meets Anya. What starts as just another scheme (albeit much bigger than anything he’s tried to pull off before) turns into the adventure of a lifetime that requires Dmitry to look inward and figure out how to put the one he loves before himself
Lead Vocal Range: A2 - F4 Strong mover Vlad is Dmitry’s partner in crime (literally) and surrogate father. Before the revolution, Vlad was a minor functionary at the imperial court. Vlad is dramatic, crafty, and a big softie at heart. While he, like Dmitry, is not above lying, cheating, and stealing, he cares greatly for his loved ones and is generally affable, though he can be calculating when he needs to be. Vlad needs to be a strong mover and comfortable with ballroom dancing.
Supporting Vocal Range: F3 - Bb4 None Anastasia’s grandmother, who loved her and had a special bond with her. The Dowager Empress has lost everything she once held dear and must now put up with imposter upon imposter never allowing her to grieve in peace. She is icy, proud, and regal (not to mention intimidating) to all but her family. Though, she does have a very sharp wit. She is especially warm with Anastasia both when as a child and after it’s revealed that Anya really is the princess.
Supporting Vocal Range: A2 - Ab4 Dance Requirement: None Gleb is the villain of the show, though not a bad person. He fully believes in the Communist ideals he follows. Loyal, honest, and hard working, Gleb almost has the potential to be a hero (he’s very much the hero of his own story). A deeply conflicted person, Gleb’s infatuation (and borderline obsession) with Anya leads to his battle with the idea of doing one’s duty vs. doing what is right.
Supporting Vocal Range: Eb3 - A4 Dance Requirement: Strong dancer The Dowager Empress’ lady in waiting. She has been by the Dowager’s side since before the revolution. Lily is clever, dutiful, and above all fun (when not working for the Dowager). She deals with her exile from Russia with a sort of resigned dark humor…and a LOT of vodka. She and Vlad were once an item (unbeknownst to her oblivious husband) and they rekindle their romance upon re-uniting. Lily needs to be a strong dancer.
Role Type: Featured Male Vocal Range: G2 - D4 Dance Requirement: Strong mover The Emperor of Russia until his abdication in 1917. When we meet Nicholas, he is at the height of his very cursed reign as tsar. By the end of the prologue, he dies at the age of 50, and is seen throughout the show as a ghost. A loving father. Elegant. He tries to keep the peace between his mother, the Dowager Empress, and the Tsarina. As his youngest daughter grows into a young woman, he protects and guides her.

Cameo Female/Ensemble Presents 17 Dance Requirement: Strong dancer During the prologue, she is an extension of Young Anastasia, sweet and impressionable. She was 17 during the Bolshevik revolution. Depending on audition attendances, Teen Anastasia may double as Odette in Swan Lake.

Like her sisters, she idolizes her father, but has a strained relationship with her mother. By the end of the Prologue, she dies at the age of 22, and is seen throughout the show as a ghost. Depending on audition attendance, this role will double as Dunya, and part of the ensemble.
Cameo Female/Ensemble Age Range: Presents 21 Dance Requirement: Strong dancer Second daughter of Nicholas and Alexandra. She was known as a famous beauty among the sisters.
