Singing Opportunities in the Musical "Fun Home"
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers to submit for auditions for the upcoming production of "Fun Home". Please, see the details below. About the Show: Winner of the 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical, Fun Home follows a cartoonist revisiting her childhood to unpack her complex relationship with her father, her emerging sexuality, and the truths we tell-and hide-about ourselves. Rate: Artists to be engaged under the CAEA DOT Policy contract. Additional information: Location: Edmonton, AB. Audition Format Performers selected for auditions will be assigned a 10-minute time slot. Due to the volume of submissions, only those selected for an audition will be contacted. What to Prepare: Please prepare one song that best showcases your voice. Directors kindly ask that you do not perform a selection from the show. Accompaniment An accompanist will not be provided. Performers may sing a cappella or use pre-recorded tracks. A sound system with an audio jack will be available. If your device requires a different connection, please bring the appropriate adapter or your own Bluetooth speaker. When applying, please submit your head shot and CV to by February 10, 2026.

Lesbian cartoonist; narrator. Vocal Range: E3-D5. A self-aware adult reflecting on her life and relationship with her father prior to his tragic death. Must be a strong singer able to move seamlessly between speech and song; low E to light belt C♯.
College freshman at Oberlin. Vocal Range: G3-E5. Highly intelligent, well-read, and socially awkward as she discovers her sexuality. Strong mix-belt to C and mix to E required.
Alison’s father. High school English teacher and funeral home director. Vocal Range: A2-G4. A complex man marked by repression and volatility; capable of warmth but quick to anger. Strong singing actor required.
Alison’s mother. Vocal Range: A3-E5. Frustrated and emotionally exhausted by her marriage; has spent years trying to be a devoted wife and mother while ignoring her husband’s behavior. Strong mixed E required.
College student. Vocal Range: G3-G4. Confident, self-assured, with a dry sense of humor; openly identifies as a lesbian. Must be comfortable with harmony singing and alto lines.
Played by one actor. Vocal Range: G3-A4 (optional D♯5). Multiple roles including a yard worker, mourner, high school student, and the lead singer of a band in Alison’s imagination. Requires a strong, clean 1970's pop sound (to B).
