About the project: SYNOPSIS: Based on the hit film and the incredible true story, Catch Me If You Can is the high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught. Nominated for four Tony awards, including Best Musical, this delightfully entertaining show was created by a Tony Award-winning "dream team," with a book by Terrence McNally (The Full Monty, Ragtime) and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray). Seeking fame and fortune, precocious teenager, Frank Abagnale, Jr., runs away from home to begin an unforgettable adventure. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer – living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. When Frank's lies catch the attention of FBI agent, Carl Hanratty, though, Carl pursues Frank across the country to make him pay for his crimes. Rate: LOA $550 weekly minimum (Ref. to LORT) + pension and health. 3-4 performances/week. Travel via Metro North provided. Additional info: Theatre’s casting note: Because of the short, intense rehearsal schedule, directors are open and interested in seeing performers who may have done the show before. But it is NOT a requirement. PREPARATION: Please prepare no more than a one-minute cut of a song from the show. Some suggestions can be found in the document attached. Please bring any and all conflicts to the auditions and note that the rehearsals times may vary. You must be available for all shows and tech week to audition. Our story's conniving protagonist. He is a slick, handsome and youthful con artist. Growing up admiring his father who was a well-loved, although hopeless businessman, he takes the life lessons he learns from him to then cheat his way to success. He is fast talking, charming and able to play up to an audience. Vocal Range: Tenor (G2 – C5)
Is the FBI agent leading the investigation and search for Frank. A knowledgeable and habitual workaholic who is obsessed with the pursuit and idolizes the moment he catches his perp. He is very street smart and gruff and believes without fault in the letter of the law. However his work obsession covers up a private life of loneliness and depression. Vocal Range: Baritone (G2 – G4)
Frank Jr.'s father. He is an inspiration when it comes to swindling. Upbeat and fast-talking, he believes he can always make another move to come out on top. That is until he undergoes a series of progressive failures where he loses everything and ends up a miserable drunk. Vocal Range: Baritone (F2 – G#4)
Frank Jr.'s gorgeous mother. She met Frank Sr. in France, during the war, but has fallen out of love. Caring and loving, with an underlying resentment toward her husband and son. Vocal Range: Alto (A3 – C5)
A young, hard-working nurse, who is a little insecure and naive. She meets Frank Jr. in hospital when he begins working there as a doctor. At first she avoids his attentions but eventually comes to trust him. Vocal Range: Alto (G3 – A5)
