Talent Wanted for Upcoming Singing Audition
Auditions for "The SpongeBob Musical". Directors are looking for singers, please see the roles' description below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world! The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau Rate: Non-Equity Rate- $150 rehearsal stipend, $60 per performance. Additional info: Auditionees should prepare a 16-32 bar selection of music, of any style, that demonstrates your vocal and comedic acting abilities. If your selection is longer than what has been requested, we may need to stop you mid-song in order to stay on track with audition appointments. Please bring sheet music to your audition. An accompanist will be provided. There will not be a movement call until the callbacks date, however if you are unable to attend callbacks- you may be asked to learn a short movement combination from the choreographer. Please also be prepared to submit all potential rehearsal and performance conflicts on the audition form. Rehearsals will begin as early as mid-February 2026. While final rehearsal schedule is TBD. Rehearsals typically occur 3-4 times per week, scheduled on evening hours (on weekdays) and/or daytime hours (on weekends). More details will be available at the audition site. Production run is May 9 – June 14, 2026. Performance schedule: Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm. There is a possible extension through June 21, 2026 CALLBACKS DATES AND HOURS: If our team would like to see you at Callbacks- you will be notified with additional guidance/instruction by Wednesday February 11, 2026 at 5:00pm. Callbacks will be held on Sunday February 15, 2026 from 6:30pm-10:30pm At callbacks there will be readings, vocal selections from the score, and movement sessions (dress for movement).
