Female, African American, 30s April’s best friend—bold, funny, brutally honest, and fearless. She’s the type who kicks the door open, tells it like it is, and protects her people. When danger hits, Ola doesn’t freeze—she acts. Provides comedic edge without losing emotional weight.
Male, 40s A detective who presents as calm, professional LAPD—measured voice, badge, authority. But beneath the surface he’s predatory and calculating, manipulating the situation to extort a valuable corporate secret. He shifts from “helpful cop” to full villain, revealing a cold, violent nature.
Male, African American, 30s (late 20s-30s range works) A handsome man found “dead” in April’s living room—later revealed to be her ex-husband under a new name. A former convict with a violent past connected to April. He’s the central mystery and catalyst for the story’s spiral.
