Well-meaning and neurotic, with a big heart. He loves his family but doesn’t know how to show it. He was abandoned as a child and struggles to connect with his community. Always has good intentions. Vocal Range: A Flat 2-G4.
She’s powerful but cannot accept the limitations of that power. More compassionate than she’ll ever let on. She is the obsessive protector of Rapunzel: straightforward and aggressive; Outwardly self-serving, possessive, sarcastic, vain, charismatic. Inwardly: insecure and lonely. Vocal Range: F3-G5.
Earnest and vulnerable. Naturally a dreamer, she is warm-hearted and strong-willed. She’s been taken for granted long enough and is ready to stand up for herself. She longs for safety and a community of her own. Vocal Range: G3-G5.
The NARRATOR: An intellectual and likable storyteller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. An engaging character actor. MYSTERIOUS MAN: A mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. He has spent a lifetime running from his mistakes. He’s whimsical and untouchable but hides a deep pain. Vocal Range: G2-E4.
CINDERELLA’S PRINCE: He is next in line to the throne and thus is pressured to hold a perfect public persona. A handsome and sexy prince. He is seductive, yet funny; privileged and reckless. Self-centered, shallow, and shameless. WOLF: Villainous, wily, and predatory. Seeking a funny, very physical, robust performer. He beguiles his victims with his charm until it’s too late. Vocal Range: B2-F4
18+ to play younger. He is a constant daydreamer and the reluctantprovider for his family. He’s often unable to read his surroundings but can rise to any occasion in a crisis. Vocal Range: B2-G4.
JACK’S MOTHER: A single mother left by her husband. She loves her son but is run ragged by the realities of life. She will defend him in the face of incredible odds. GRANDMOTHER: Feisty. The salt of the earth and deeply passionate about life. Vocal Range: B flat 3-F5.
She’s spent her entire life being protected from the world. Restless and sheltered, until she loses the only family she’s ever known. Her newfound independence is unkind to her. Vocal Range: B3-A5.
The younger prince. Less is expected fromhim, so he receives less attention. A hopeless romantic. Vocal Range: C Sharp 3–E4.
CINDERELLA’S STEPMOTHER: The ultimate social climber, she views her children as extensions of herself. Cruel and materialistic. Vocal Range: A3-F Sharp 5. CINDERELLA’S MOTHER is the ghostly figure of the kind mother that Cinderella knew when she was a child. Her spirit looks after her daughter. Vocal Range: G3 - Ab5
