Hero is an All-American everyman who wakes up after a 30-year coma, emotionally frozen as the teenager he was in the late '80s. While his body has aged, his instincts, humor, and worldview are still pre-internet and pre-social media. He is earnest, curious, and unintentionally rebellious not because he wants attention, but because he doesn't understand the modern rules.
Glory is Hero's father - thoughtful, restrained, and deeply tired. A product of the Woodstock generation, he believes in reason, compromise, and doing the right thing, but feels crushed by modern chaos and the impossible expectations of his own father. Glory constantly mediates between Hero and Grandpa Alpha, caught between protecting his son and still craving paternal approval.
Grandpa Alpha is a decorated war hero who claims to have fought in every major conflict from WWII through Desert Storm. He embodies the unapologetic confidence of the Greatest Generation: dominant, blunt, fearless, and politically incorrect by today's standards. While often outrageous, he genuinely believes he is preparing Hero to survive a broken world.
LEAD Hero's childhood crush, now recently divorced and newly returned to her hometown. She represents both familiarity and growth approachable and grounded, yet quietly strong with a subtle edge. She recognizes Hero immediately, not just physically but emotionally, seeing him as someone untouched by modern cynicism. She serves as Hero's emotional anchor and challenges him without controlling him. The role requires warmth, intelligence, and understated confidence.
SUPPORTING. Karen is intensely paranoid about COVID and becomes a self-appointed authority figure after moving to Ennytown as a contact tracer. She wears extreme protective gear, creating strong opportunities for physical comedy. Beneath her rigid exterior, Karen enjoys power, attention, and validation - even while denying it outwardly. Her character reflects modern contradictions around gender expression, identity, and performative morality.
SUPPORTING Hero's childhood best friend who never emotionally grew up. Immature, goofy, and loyal to a fault, Buddy is a 40-something still operating like a teenager. He avoids responsibility and conflict, especially within his marriage. His humor is broad but sincere, driven by misplaced confidence and arrested development.
SUPPORTING Buddy's hyper-cautious wife and the embodiment of pandemic anxiety. Constantly consuming updates from health experts, Becky believes she is protecting everyone while quietly controlling everything. She treats Buddy like a child and rarely sees her own hypocrisy. Sharp comedic timing and self-importance are key.
CAMEO The richest man in the world a polished tech mogul archetype. Calm, vague, and godlike in his confidence, he positions himself as humanity's savior through a virus cure. Comedy comes from corporate optimism and complete detachment from reality.
SUPPORTING A Melinda Gates-style figure composed, elegant, and strategic. Often the quiet counterbalance to William Fence's ego. The role favors nuance, authority, and understated intelligence over broad comedy.
CAMEO A slick, hyper-polished politician who speaks exclusively in soundbites. Entirely performative, endlessly confident, and completely self-serving. Think Cuomo and Newsom combined visually and personality-wise.
CAMEO / DAY PLAYER Seeking real-life influencers for small speaking roles that heighten the satire of modern attention culture. Roles are flexible and tailored to each performer's presence. Must have a minimum of 5,000 followers. Do NOT include social media handles in submissions.
