About the project: Set in the village of Anatevka, Fiddler on the Roof is a sweeping, deeply human story about family, faith, love, and survival in a world on the brink of change. Rich with humor and heart, it remains one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Additional info: What to Prepare Vocal Audition: Prepare 32 bars (no more than 1 minute) of a Broadway or Broadway-style musical theater song that best showcases your voice and storytelling ability. Singing from either show is welcome but not required. Please do not sing a cappella. Use a piano or karaoke accompaniment. Choose material appropriate to the style of Fiddler on the Roof. Movement / Dance: A dance or movement reel is optional and only recommended if available. Important Dates First Rehearsal: Evening of Wednesday, January 21, 2026 - time TBC. Tech Week: February 15-19, 2026 Performance Dates: Fridays: February 20, 27, and March 6 at 7:30 PM Saturdays: February 21, 28, and March 7 at 7:30 PM Sundays: February 22, March 1, and March 8 at 2:00 PM All performers must be fully available for tech week and all scheduled performances. Rehearsals are typically held on weekday evenings and select weekends. Performers are only called when needed. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed following casting.This is a non-union, civic production. A stipend will be provided for select roles. The Tailor. Tenor (E3–F#4). Sensitive, nervous, and lovable with strong comic timing and vulnerability. Moves well. A poor tailor who finds courage through love.
The Student. Tenor (B2–E4). Intense, idealistic, and charismatic. Strong acting required. Moves well. A radical thinker who challenges tradition and falls in love with Hodel.
The Russian Soldier. Primarily speaking role with featured tenor solo in “To Life.” Strong actor; Russian accent required. Strong dancer preferred. A gentle outsider whose love challenges boundaries.
The Butcher: Baritone (C3–F#4). Strong comedic actor with presence. Moves well. Wealthy, proud, and resentful after losing Tzeitel.
Non-singing. Strong character actor. A familiar authority figure whose loyalty ultimately lies with oppressive orders.
Mezzo/Alto (A3–Eb5). Strong actor with sharp comic timing. Moves well. Tevye’s practical, strong-willed wife and emotional backbone of the family.
Soprano/Alto (B3–D5). Strong dramatic actor. Moves well. Eldest daughter who defies tradition for love.
Soprano (B3–E5). Strong dramatic actor with emotional depth. Moves well. Falls in love with Perchik and chooses conviction over comfort.
The Matchmaker: Soprano/Alto (F3–F5). Strong comedic actor. Moves well. A meddling, gossip-loving village fixture.
Mezzo/Alto (C#4–D5). Strong character actor. Moves well. Appears as a ghost in the Dream sequence. Doubles in ensemble.
Small in stature. Must move well.
Mezzo/Alto (C4–Eb5). Very strong actor required. Moves well. A show-stopping ghostly warning in the Dream sequence.
Performers of various ages to portray the villagers of Anatevka (Mamas, Papas, Sons, Daughters). Ensemble members may also be assigned featured, named roles.
