About the project: A teenage girl named Maya and her mother Grace navigates culture difference, displacement, and emotional distance in their relationship after moving from Hong Kong to Canada. When Maya discovers a collection of VHS tapes from her childhood, it becomes a start of reflection and healing, reconnecting them to the love they struggle to express. Inspired by the director’s experience as a first-generation Asian immigrant, the film explores communication and empathy within mother-daughter relationships shaped by cultural differences and starting over in a new country. Rate: Non-Union. This is a volunteer project. Crafty and catering will be provided on set. Additional information: Shoot/Performance Date(s) Mid to Late February.
