Description:

NOW is a drama that follows a single day in the life of Aislinn, a woman living with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Rather than focusing on sensationalized portrayals of the condition, the film centers on the quiet, often invisible ways trauma and dissociation shape everyday life. Aislinn moves through familiar activities while being intermittently pulled away from reality by dissociative experiences that leave her feeling displaced in time and disconnected from the world around her. NOW is about presence, absence, and the effort it takes to remain grounded in the moment. The film explores how trauma lingers not only in memory, but in the body, the gaze, and the spaces between words. This project is created with the intent to foster understanding and empathy around dissociation and trauma. The production will maintain a trauma-informed, supportive set environment, with care given to both the subject matter and the people bringing it to life. NOW is planned for festival exhibition.

3 role s

AislinnFemale20-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Ashlynn lives with Dissociative Identity Disorder, shaped by prolonged trauma. Though still young, she carries a quiet melancholy that feels beyond her years; even in happiness, a sadness lingers in her eyes. She is kind, gentle, and soft-spoken, moving through life with a reserved presence. Dissociative episodes pull her from the present, leaving her feeling disconnected, alone, and subtly displaced in time.

NadiaFemale20-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Nadia is Aislinn's bubbly roommate. She's generally aware of Aislinn's disorder, though she struggles to understand her roommate's daily experience. She tries her best to be the friend that Aislinn needs, especially in making things feel as normal as possible. Her role acts as a contrast to the lead, with humor and energy.

JordanMale20-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Jordan has just started seeing Aislinn, and attends a date with her at a coffee shop. He's kind, attractive, and not quick to judge. His enthusiasm makes any conversation with him an absolute breeze. When Aislinn has a dissociative experience in his presence, he become genuinely worried for her.
