He doesn’t believe mentalism is anything more than cheap party tricks, but he finds Chaz and his shtick entertaining, so he allows Chaz to perform for him and explain himself. With every word Chaz says in his defence, Officer Shaw starts to see through Chaz’s persona and eventually confronts him about the moral, ethical and legal complications his profession entails.
