4 roles
SUPPORTING. Cindy is an endurance athlete and natural leader within her running community. Confident without being cruel, and competitive in a healthy way. She’s generous with advice, supportive of newcomers, and is effortlessly excellent at what she does. She works hard, is admired and praised, representing everything Nora wants to be. This role requires athletic credibility and the ability to convey strength without arrogance.
SUPPORTING. Zara is Nora’s older sister and a mother. She’s busy, pragmatic and emotionally perceptive. Having received Nora’s kidney, she carries a mix of gratitude, guilt, and concern. Zara wants Nora to move forward and rebuild her life, but senses the resentment Nora refuses to voice. Loving but at times abrasive, Zara expresses her concern over Nora’s fixation and can see her fragility. This role balances warmth and frustration. Zara is the film’s emotional reality check.
DAY PLAYER. A calm, observant physician who has known Nora for many years since her kidney donation. They reassure Nora medically while picking up on the psychological weight beneath her questions. Professional, compassionate, and restrained, the Doctor represents logic and sensibility in contrast to Nora’s growing obsession.
DAY PLAYER, MULTIPLE ROLES. A close-knit group of experienced runners who treat running as both community and identity. They are disciplined, confident, and enjoy friendly competition. The group is bonded through shared language, gear talk, and post-run stretches. They are oblivious to how niche their world can feel to an outsider. Their easy camaraderie and physical competence reinforce Nora’s sense of inadequacy and newness.
