Description:

Casting actors for a short documentary film. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Roots is a visually rich short documentary about African history produced by Océane MJ Théa, celebrating Black culture through the art of braiding. This is an expression that has been widely imitated but can never be duplicated by the colonizer. For centuries, Black hair has carried more than style; it has held stories of resilience, identity, survival, conquest, and triumph. Through the unique codes and unspoken language of braids and hairstyling, ROOTS honors the legacy, creativity, and cultural expression woven into our hair. We are currently seeking actors and models to help bring this powerful story to life. Availability Requirements: Must be available on weekends; Two filming days required; General availability needed: February 27 – May 30. When applying, please send: Headshot with natural hair; Portfolio or resume; Self-tape introduction & interesting being cast (1-3 minutes).
