Casting actors for a short film "In The Cards.". Details are provided below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: "In The Cards" is a short, 5-minute emotional piece where characters Layla and a Psychic have a deep conversation on what it means to feel okay, and the journey to get there. Rate: Both actors will be paid $25 each. I'm estimating no more than a 2-hour recording time. Additional info: ROANOKE VALLEY AREA! Layla: Line 1: (Defeated) No. No, No, No. Please. I need someone. Line 2: But how long until I'm okay again? Until I can move forward? Line 3: (Distrusting) So... It's hocus pocus? Psychic: Line 1: Well, The Hermit tends to represent needing solitude to find your way. Needing alone time to re-center yourself. To find your truth and your path. Line 2: (Laughing) I wanted to be a magician when I was little. Line 3: Empathy isn't hocus pocus, now is it? When applying, please provide a short clip of yourself acting out the lines.

Layla is a very sad girlie in this short film. She cries, and is very distressed throughout the length of the story. Thankfully, by then end, she finds a little peace. If you can channel your emo teen days, this is a perfect role for you!
This character is for the wise girlies. She's emotionally mature and very empathetic. She offers a lot of wise words that require reserved delivery- one that sits with you, and you realize the full weight of what was said a little later. Fun fact: she used to want to be a magician! She works with cards now, but they're tarot, rather than playing cards.
