"Soundly Awake" - Short Film
Hello, we are currently looking for Union and Non-Union Actors to cast in our film for the student Short Film “Soundly Awake”, produced by Vancouver Film School. Our shoot dates will be January 28th, 2026 - January 30th, 2026 in the Greater Vancouver Area. "Haunted by recurring nightmares of his abusive father, Jun, a lonely and withdrawn man, meets Sage, a curious nightmare eater who appears to consume his pain. As Sage helps ease Jun’s suffering in the "Between", Jun begins to open his heart, finding the strength to confront his father in the real world. When the nightmares end and Sage has to leave, Jun is heartbroken, fearing he will never see Sage again, until an unexpected reunion proves that some bonds endure beyond dreams."

Jun is career-driven, rising to a high position as an asset manager at his firm. But when his traumatic father re-enters his life, he begins to have vivid nightmares of his childhood that affect his sleep. He is then put in a rare position where he has to confront his traumas and fears, allowing him to access the ultimate freedom he’s always wanted.
Bright, calm and curious by nature, Sage is a mystical creature that eats people's nightmares so they can sleep at night. Wanting to learn more about the human who woke up in his realm, he deliberately chooses to eat Jun’s nightmare slowly, allowing himself more time to spend with Jun.
Richard is Jun’s father; he is a raging alcoholic who is on the verge of destroying his liver and possibly dying. He wants to reconnect with Jun, but fails as he still can’t give up alcohol.
Marie is Jun’s secretary. She is a very organized, detail-oriented individual and is as ambitious as they come. Everyday she tries to find a way to make him smile and make his life seem brighter, in hopes that she will gain the courage to ask him out.
Portraying Restaurant servers and bar staff. Acting experience is a plus. Availability for 1 day.
