About the project: The musical is based on the extraordinary true story of what happened when 38 planes landed in Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001. With the towns small population of 9000 swelling by nearly 7000 stranded airline passengers, the residents of Gander opened their hearts and homes, welcoming ‘plane people’ with warmth and kindness. The musical highlights themes of community, resilience, and compassion formed between the locals and the passengers during a time of crisis. With a dynamic score and uplifting storytelling by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, “Come From Away” captures the spirit of togetherness in the face of adversity. Additional info: Each cast member plays multiple parts. The Theatre casting of the multiple parts may differ from those listed below. AUDITIONS: Singing, Reading and Movement. This is a show that requires true team commitment. Absence cannot become an issue to the rehearsal process. The cast size is small (11-20) with actors playing multiple parts. All must sing. Although the show doesn’t need trained dancers, all characters must be able to move since the production is heavily choreographed. Please prepare a short contemporary musical theatre or pop/rock song in the style of the show or from the show and bring sheet music for the pianist, if you aren’t singing from the score. Wear comfortable shoes for the movement audition. Reading material provided. Tuesday January 27 will be the first cast read thru with scripts, music and schedules distributed. The head of an environmental company in Los Angeles, he was on vacation with his boyfriend (also named Kevin), inspired by the town’s kindness he creates the Pay it Forward Foundation, strong contemporary tenor up to G, may also play Garth, the head of the local union for bus drivers and President Bush.
