About the project: When DOMINGA, a lonely retired vaquera, learns of her daughter's pregnancy, she leaves everything behind and starts a journey out west to see her. She finds herself in need of work along the way at a small farm where she meets JASPER BUDDY. The two bond over their estrangements with their families and decide the journey is better together than alone. Puppetted character, margay/wildcat, rough and tough, proud, independent, retired cowboy who tends to her own ranch now. Estranged from her daughter, she wants to repair their relationship but is unsure how. Dominga finds a soft spot for Jasper. Preferably has puppeteering and improv experience, but not required.
Puppetted character, Texan, retriever puppy, naive country boy, ran away from his father because he misses his mom. He’s clumsy and inexperienced, but he tries his darndest and wins over the hearts of others quickly. He’s wanted by the law for running away. Preferably has puppeteering and improv experience, but not required.
Puppetted character, wolf, picks on the little guy but is all bark, no bite. He harasses poor old ladies and their puppies, but becomes a real threat when he finds out the truth about Jasper. Preferably has puppeteering and improv experience, but not required.
Human character, Texan/southern, just a sweet southern grandma trying to raise her chickens. She took in Jasper after he ran away. She wants what's best for him and knows it isn’t staying with her. Preferably has improv experience, but not required.
