A caring but stressed single mother. Strong-willed, protective and practical, but often dismisses her son's instincts until it's too late. Needs emotional range: warmth, frustration, fear and resilience. Character lines to audition: (tired /reassuring) “ (exhales) We’ll be out of here in the morning. Just get some rest, Jordan.” (Angry, Sad) “You— you killed him! You... killed my husband!”
The home owner. Charming at first but manipulative controlling and statistic beneath the surface. Actor's must show, charisma, subtle menace, and terrifying explosiveness. Character lines to audition: (charming/reassuring)“You don’t trust me, huh? Smart kid. I wouldn’t trust me either. Ha. Ha. You have nothing to worry about. I'm just trying to help your mother out of a bad situation” (sadistic) “You don’t get to leave me, not now, not ever."
Intelligent, cautious and suspicious from the start. The audience sees much of the danger through his eyes. Character lines to audition: (Suspicious) “I see a guy who’s way too interested in keeping us here. I don't trust you. I don't trust you at all." (defensive/angry): “GET OFF HER!”
A good man, who would do anything for his son but holds contentions with Lisa after their messy divorce. Character lines to audition: “I’ll come get you tonight son, even if it means dealing with your mother.”
