Five years on from the events of “A Christmas Carol,” Scrooge is still haunted by the ghosts of his past (literal and metaphorical). Though he has poured his heart and soul into celebrating Christmas, he still feels the weighty chain Marley warned him of. What if his deeds are not enough to erase the deeds of his past?
Henry is a thoughtful, hardworking, and deeply invested Anglican Parish Priest. But faced with an apathetic congregation, he’s beginning to lose his own sense of wonder at the Nativity as he attempts to convey its importance to his parishioners. On the edge of burnout, can anything reignite his true Christmas spirit?
Kindhearted, intelligent, and a little sarcastic, Molly might not be everyone’s idea of the ideal Vicar’s wife, but she’s the perfect match for Henry. She feels her husband’s struggle without succumbing to it and points him back to his first love (Christ) with kind words or insightful humor as the occasion demands.
Though she puts forward a brusque, no-nonsense façade, Mrs. Ellis (the Phillips’ housekeeper) has an excitable and overactive imagination. Usually the model of reserved dignity, it doesn’t take much of a crisis to send Mrs. Ellis into somewhat comedic flights of fancy as she imagines the worst possible outcome.
