Singing Opportunities in "Grease" Production
Cast sought for production of "Grease". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Grease revolves around the lives of a group of high school students, with a particular focus on the romance between Sandy, a new student at Rydell High, and Danny, the school’s cool and charismatic leader of the T-Birds. As the two lovebirds navigate the challenges of peer pressure, teenage angst, and personal transformation, the musical explores themes of youth and identity. Grease is an energetic and feel-good tribute to the nostalgia of the teenage years. Additional info: Callbacks: Wednesday, June 25, 6:30-10pm (invited callbacks only); Prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show or pop/rock song. Bring sheet music or a vocal track (Accompanist and/or Bluetooth speaker will be provided) Wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes for a movement/dance audition. All auditionees must complete a vocal and dance call audition. No monologue preparation required. Rehearsal Dates: Early/Mid July through opening on September 5th. Our typical rehearsal schedule is Sunday through Thursday evenings (some Friday/Saturday rehearsals may be scheduled, based on actors’ availability). While you may not be called for every rehearsal, please only audition if you do not have multiple recurring conflicts on those nights. See the attachment for details. Sweet, wholesome, naive girl who is a new student at Rydell. Danny’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Danny. Dance: minimal. Vocal range: A3 - F#5, high belt
Strong, confident, easy-going leader of the T-Birds. Sandy’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Sandy. Dance: advanced, must be confident in movement. Vocal range: D4 - B5
Tough, sarcastic, outspoken leader of the Pink Ladies. Kenickie’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Kenickie and being crude with the other T-Birds. Must be able to convey the vulnerability that Rizzo always hides and only shows once confronted with pregnancy. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: A3 - C5, belt is a plus, but not required
Tough-looking, surly, second-in-command of the T-Birds. Has a crude and off-beat sense of humor. Rizzo’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Rizzo. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: C4 - F5
Good-natured, a dreamer, and dumb. Member of the Pink Ladies who is heavily interested in how she looks– particularly her hair. Doody’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Doody. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: A3 - D4
Boyish, optimistic, and youngest of the T-Birds. Worships the other guys. Playing guitar is a plus, but not required. Frenchy’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Frenchy. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: D4 - A5
Loud and a compulsive eater. Member of the Pink Ladies who is pushy with the girls, but shy and quiet with the boys. Roger’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Roger. Must be comfortable eating onstage. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: A3 - C5, belter
Mischievous, anything-for-a-laugh, clown of the T-Birds who enjoys putting others on. Jan’s love interest. Must be comfortable with kissing Jan. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: D4 - A5, belter
Older-looking, pretty, the “beauty” of the Pink Ladies. Reveals her true age when she starts talking. Must be comfortable with being intimate with Vince Fontaine. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: C4 - C5
Wheeler-dealer, braggart, member of the T-Birds who thinks he’s a real lady-killer. Dance: intermediate. Vocal range: G3 - A5
Aggressive, catty, all-American cheerleader who is obsessed with Danny. Twirling baton is a plus, but not required. Dance: intermediate with specialty in cheer. Vocal range: flexible.
Pompous, awkward, and gullible. Often picked on by the T-Birds but goes on to become the valedictorian and very successful. Dance: minimal. Vocal range: flexible.
Loud-mouth and messy dancer. Prides herself on being “the best dancer at St. Bernadette’s.” Dance: advanced. Vocal range: flexible.
Older, rule-enforcing, and stern English teacher. Dance: minimal. Vocal range: flexible
Generic teen-focused radio host. Fast-talking and a veteran “greaser”. Must be comfortable with being intimate with Marty. Dance: minimal. Vocal range: flexible.
A “greaser” at Rydell that fronts a small Rock and Roll band. Thinks of himself as a real rock star. Dance: minimal. Vocal range: G4 - E5, sings “Born to Hand Jive”
Charismatic, Fabian-esque, figment of Frenchy’s imagination. Would’ve caused girls to lose their minds back in 1958. Dance: minimal. Vocal range: E4 - F5, sings “Beauty School Dropout”
Will make up the other students of Rydell. Will also appear as mechanics and angel chorus. Dance: intermediate. (3-6 people)
