(LEAD): A soulful rebel with a restless spark; Maya is a rising jazz singer-songwriter caught between tradition and ambition. Must convey depth, conviction, and a quiet confidence that builds into bold defiance. Strong musicality or singing ability preferred.
(SUPPORTING): The gravel-voiced club owner who hides concern behind control. Must bring a commanding presence with subtle vulnerability; a seasoned performer with gravitas. Jazz experience or familiarity with club culture is a plus.
(SUPPORTING): Maya’s mother and moral compass—warm, witty, and wise. Must radiate calm strength, emotional nuance, and gentle authority. A grounded energy that communicates generational wisdom and faith.
(SUPPORTING): The band’s smooth and grounded piano player with quiet charm. Must carry easy charisma and expressive subtlety; a team player who slowly backs Maya’s bravery. Piano-playing is a plus.
(SUPPORTING): The bold and unshakable trumpet player, loyal and hype to the core. Must exude confidence, loyalty, and charm with a bold physicality. Brass instrument experience is a plus.
(FEATURED): A gracefully intimidating music agent with a sharp eye and sharper intuition. Must portray poise, quiet authority, and a knack for seeing future stars. A strong presence with minimal dialogue.
