About the project: 13 JR. tells a timeless story about fitting in - and standing out! Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents' divorce. Now the new kid at school, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!? Additional info: AUDITION MATERIALS Please prepare a 30-second comedic monologue to show the casting team for your audition. VOCAL AUDITIONS Actors should prepare a ~32 bar cut of a song by Jason Robert Brown (Songs for a New World, The Last Five Years, 13, etc.) preferably with backing track. Evan Goldman is facing a lot of big life changes: not only are his parents divorcing, but he’s also moving from New York City to Appleton, Indiana, right before his thirteenth birthday. Since Evan is Jewish, this is a big birthday, considering he will finally get to have his Bar Mitzvah. Patrice has big dreams of getting out of her small town. She’s clever and a bit shy and marches to the beat of her own drum – but, unfortunately, these qualities make her an outcast at school.
