About the project: It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew dreams of making it big—while falling hard for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas. But when German developers threaten to turn the Strip into a capitalist strip mall, the crew must band together to save their beloved home—and the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll itself. Featuring iconic hits from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and more, this electrifying musical will melt faces and steal hearts. Rate: All roles receive stipend pay and tip share. A limited number of AEA contracts will be considered for principal roles. Additional info: Callback date: Monday, May 5, 7:30 PM – 11:30 PM (time subject to change based on availability). Rehearsals begin June 9, 2025 and typically occur Sunday-Wednesday & occasional Thursday evenings from 7:30-11:30pm. Performances: July 11 - July 27, 2025, as well as August 8-17, 2025. (Vocal Range: Bb3-D5): An appealing, male-presenting good-guy rocker with great, easy comedic timing, a boyish charm, vulnerability, and a very strong rock tenor voice. Drew works at the legendary Bourbon Room hoping and waiting for his dreams to come true. He finds an instant attraction to Sherrie, the beautiful new arrival from the Midwest, who encourages him to go after his dreams.
(Vocal Range: G3-F5): A female-presenting actor, fresh faced, innocent Midwestern girl stepping right off the bus into a new world to pursue her dreams of stardom. Strong comedic timing, strong rock belt, dancer or good movement ability. Should be comfortable in revealing/sensual clothing.
(Vocal Range: D3-D5): The narrator of the piece, charming, mischievous, welcoming, vibrant personality, a male-presenting actor who would be fun to spend one drunken night with. Strong, honest comedic timing and improv skills, and strong rock vocals.
(Vocal Range: D3-G4): Classic stoner type male-presenting actor who runs the famous Bourbon Room club. Torn about whether he should sell the club to Hertz, a German businessman. Very strong comedic timing. A laid back, easy going dude. Bari-tenor rock vocals.
(Vocal Range: C3-Eb5): A sensual male-presenting rock star. Decided to leave his successful hair/metal-rock band to try it solo. Self important, confident, intriguing in all the wrong ways, the ultimate rock & roll “bad boy”; he is all about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. Great comedic timing and strong rock tenor voice.
(Vocal Range: G3-Db5): female-presenting actor, strong presence, an easy sensuality about her/them. Once a performer, she/they now operates a gentlemen’s club where Sherrie winds up working. Takes on the maternal role for those that work for her/them. Strong, soulful vocals and belt required.
(Vocal Range: F3-G#4): An older German male-presenting actor. Uptight, cold, intimidating businessman trying to buy up the Strip to develop it. The villain. Strong comedic timing, German dialect and baritone vocals.
(Vocal Range: Db3-E5): Hertz’s son, young German male-presenting actor. Works for his father, but not by choice. Pressured and intimidated by his father. Shy, gentle with a big heart. Strong vocals, comedic timing and German dialect.
(Vocal Range: A3-Eb5): A fun, hippie type, earthy female-presenting actor who fights against the attempted takeover of The Strip. Strong comedic timing and belt vocals.
