About the project: Traveling Mercies is a student short film based off of the true story of a young woman named Chris and her heroic story of escaping the Chicago projects. The short film takes place in 1974 when Chris was 16 years old. The plot of the film is just one section of Chris's life. It depicts the night she decides to run away from home. Again we are NOT telling her entire story, we are hoping to use this short film as material to pitch to get the proper funds to tell the entire story and make sure it's done properly. Rate: Non-union. UNPAID (Payment may be possible IF the film is submitted for income producing opportunities) Additional info: Location: Minneapolis, MN. When applying, please include a Resume, Headshot and any self tapes you may have (self tape not required but would strongly recommend.)

Lead. Sister Chris is a kind and loving older sister, she takes on a motherly role in her family taking care of all her siblings. Food is a huge part of her life, as a young woman taking care of a family she needed to understand how to cook for people. Sister Chris has been abused for years by her mothers boyfriend. She is resilient and strong and despite a hard life she has a heart of gold.
Lead. He is a man that likes to be imposing and use his strength to intimidate. He's callus and hardened by having a tough life.
Supporting. Older sibling to Chris, he took care of her when she was young and he has a soft spot in his heart for her. He isn't around much at home anymore but still stops by when the adults are gone to make sure she's okay.
