PREPARATION If auditioning for any musical, please prepare a monologue no longer than 1 minute and 16-32 bars in the genre of the show (NO MATERIAL FROM THE PRODUCTIONS PLEASE). 50-year-old mother of Shelby. She is overprotective at times and finds the need to have a firm grasp on the world at all times. She is a busy woman who worries too much for her age. "STEEL MAGNOLIAS"
Very shy hairdresser. She goes from a very soft-spoken person to a bible-loving Christian with her heart on her sleeve.

60-year-old widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin. She is wealthy and also knows everyone’s business. She is the sarcastic member of the group. She loves to laugh and poke fun at the little things that others cry over. She is very close with Ouiser. "STEEL MAGNOLIAS"
60-year-old. She is a wealthy old bitty. She is a loveably miserable lady, though. Her unique personality and sense of humor is a great relief in the serious scenes. "STEEL MAGNOLIAS"

Smooth-talking, self-deprecating playboy. He's completely content with the life he's chosen as the singer/bartender at a tropical resort, until he meets Rachel, a vacationer who upends his heart. Guitar skills are useful. "ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE"
No-nonsense and assertive with an island accent. She runs the resort and keeps everyone in check, but clearly cares about her employees, her customers, and J.D., an older island denizen. Great singer. "ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE"

(age 60-79) A funny, endearing older man who always has a parrot on his shoulder. He's losing his vision and his hearing, but won't acknowledge it. A good-natured drunkard, he's always writing his memoirs on bar napkins and, as it turns out, he's lived a full life. "ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE"
