About the project: And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is a classic mystery play. The plot revolves around ten strangers who are invited to a remote island under different pretexts. Once there, they discover that their mysterious host is absent, and a recorded voice accuses each of them of past crimes. As the guests try to figure out what’s happening, they start dying one by one, in a manner that follows a sinister nursery rhyme. The tension escalates as they realize the murderer is among them, and they must confront their dark pasts while trying to survive. Additional info: Please be prepared to read from the script (scenes provided) and to stay the entire time on Sunday OR Monday, so you can read in multiple groups. Tech Week – Sunday, Feb 23-Thurs Feb 27, 2025; Opening Night – Friday, Feb 28. Thomas Rogers Rogers and his wife have been hired as caretakers of the eight guests who will be arriving. Thomas, a butler, has been put in charge of the household, attending to everyone’s needs. He is overwhelmed by his duties, displaying exasperation and ill will. He & his wife murdered their last employer…for the inheritance money.
Ethel Rogers While she is technically employed as a cook, like her husband, Ethel is expected to go beyond the scope of her position. Ethel is frail, nervous and overwhelmed. Trapped beneath the thumb of her demanding husband, she is unhappy and lost.
John Gordon MacKenzie General MacKenzie sticks out among the others and doesn’t seem to be comfortable socializing. One might suspect that he suffers from a guilty conscience. Defensive about the accusations directed at him, MacKenzie prefers to talks about the love and devotion he felt for for his dear wife Lesley.
Sir Lawrence Wargrave A retired criminal judge, Wargrave is highly intelligent with a commanding personality. Wargrave’s experience and air of authority make them a natural leader for the group. A strong sense of justice.
Dr. Edward Armstrong A popular physician to the London upper class, Dr. Armstrong is hired to come to the Island for a medical consultation. His demeanor is that of a weak and somewhat sorrowful person who can easily be taken advantage of. He believes that he’s put his past behind him, that no one remembers that woman he killed on the operating table because he was drunk.
Anthony James Marston Handsome, youthful, from a wealthy family and oozing with superiority and little moral judgment, Anthony seems the least ashamed of his checkered past.
William Henry Blore A former police officer turned private detective, he acts boldly and frequently takes initiative, but he also makes frequent blunders. He constantly suspects the wrong person, and his boldness often verges on foolhardiness. He was hired to watch all the other guests on the Island. Of course, that was just a story…
Vera Claythorne A former governess, Vera was hired to serve as secretary to Mrs. Owen, wife of the mysterious host. Intelligent and poised, Vera is at first excited by the prospect of this adventure, but her enthusiasm eventually evolves into an urgent desire to leave the island.
Emily Brent Emily comes off as righteous, judgmental and negative. Her rules for proper living allow for no exceptions. A crotchety old woman, she goes to the Island for the promise of a free vacation, but finds herself accused of driving her servant girl to death.
Captain Philip Lombard A mysterious, confident, and resourceful man who seems to have been a mercenary soldier in Africa. Lombard is far bolder and more cunning than most of the other characters.
Fred Narracott (likely to double with Marston) He is a Sticklehaven local. He provides ferry service to and from the Island.
