The company is holding auditions for Roald Dahl’s "Matilda "The Musical, and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils’ saving grace! A young girl who is incredibly brave, intelligent, creative, and humble. She is a book lover and has a strong moral code advocating justice, fairness and truth. She longs to be loved, wanted and cherished, a desire that is NOT fulfilled by her family nor the headmistress of the school that she attends. She is not necessarily very “girly” in the typical sense. British accent preferred.
She is a bully in every sense of the word. This role is typically played by a male. She is both violent and cruel. She is the headmistress of the school. British accent preferred
She is kind, loving, motherly and meek. She struggles with finding her strength but does find it. She is Matilda’s teacher. British accent preferred.
A crooked used-car salesmen who is selfish. He is cruel and demeaning to his daughter, Matilda, bluntly expressing his disdain for her. British accent preferred.
Matilda’s negligent mother. She is pre-occupied with her own selfish ambitions. She is obnoxious, over the top and loud! British accent preferred.
Not so bright brother to Matilda. Needs good deadpan comedy. If you don’t like memorizing lots of lines, this is going to be your character of choice!
The ecstatic, sympathetic librarian that Matilda shares her “story” with. She recognizes Matilda’s love for books and is invested in the creation of her stories.
The Christ-like figure who avenges his daughter. He is a circus performer who is in love with the Acrobat and longs to have a child. British accent preferred.
The circus performer who is in love with the Escapologist and longs to have a child. She is a good mover. British accent preferred.
Mrs. Wormwood’s fabulous salsa and ballroom dance partner. Extremely flamboyant and over the top. Must be a comedic character actor with strong comedic timing and a flair for physical comedy. Strong Dancer with Ballroom Dancing ability. Italian accent preferred
Matilda’s classmate and best friend. She is a little “kooky”, brave and clever, as evidenced when she puts the newt in Miss Trunchbull’s water jug. British accent preferred. British accent preferred.
A student at Matilda’s school. He is also the object of Miss Trunchbull’s cruelty, being forced to eat an entire cake. British accent preferred.
A young girl who comes to school wearing pigtails. She is thrown over the fence by her pigtails by the threatening Miss Trunchbull. British accent preferred.
One of Matilda’s classmates. To help him out of a jam, Matilda makes up a story about him suffering from narcolepsy. British accent preferred.
