Singers Audition for "Spamalot" Musical

Columbia, SC, United States
ID: 274837Exp: 12/8/2024
Description:

Audition for "Spamalot" show. In search of actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the details below. About the project: Based on the hilarious cult favorite film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is a musical parody of the Arthurian legend. Leading roles for Arthur and his Lady of the Lake along with six male supporting Round Table comics: Robin, Lancelot, Galahad, Patsy, Historian and Bedevere, all of whom play multiple, hilarious roles in their quest for the beloved Holy Grail. Throw in a singing and dancing chorus and this ‘jousting company of clowns’ is complete with hilarious tongue-in-cheek deliveries! Additional info: Please download your audition form (see attachment) and bring it with you COMPLETED to auditions. Please also bring a headshot or current photo. Prepare 16-32 measures of a song, preferably in a more comic vein – except for those actors auditioning for The Lady of the Lake or Sir Galahad – both of which require legitimate lyric vocal performances. The production team requests that you NOT sing a song from Spamalot. Bring sheet music to be played by an accompanist or a track (with no vocals). A Bluetooth speaker will be provided. No a cappella vocal auditions, please. You will be asked to move in group dance auditions so dress accordingly. Scene readings will be done at callbacks, which will be held later by invitation only. It is anticipated that rehearsals will begin in mid to late March though that will be confirmed once the show has been cast and the production team has reviewed all conflicts. The show runs May 16 through June 1. If you are interested, please apply.

KING ARTHURMale36-69 y.o.All ethnicities

The King of England who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Round Table and find the Holy Grail. Great Humor. Good singer.

SIR ROBINMale30-49 y.o.All ethnicities

A Knight of the Round Table. Ironically called ‘Sir Robin the Brave,’ though he couldn’t be more cowardly. Joins the Knights for the singing and dancing. Also plays GUARD 1 and BROTHER MAYNARD, a long-winded monk.

SIR LANCELOTMale30-40 y.o.All ethnicities

A Knight of the Roundtable. He is fearless to a bloody fault but through a twist of fate, does discover his ‘softer side.’ This actor MUST be great with character voices and accents, as he also plays THE FRENCH TAUNTER, an arrogant, condescending, over-the-top Frenchman, the KNIGHT OF NI, an absurd, cartoonish leader of a peculiar group of Knights, and TIM THE ENCHANTER, a ghostly being with a Scottish accent.

PATSYMale30-49 y.o.All ethnicities

King Arthur’s horse and servant. Underappreciated but always longing for King Arthur’s approval. Good, funny, physical mover with some possible tap dancing. Also plays MAYOR, a jolly red-faced man who advertises the merits of his home town and the drunken, useless GUARD 2.

SIR GALAHADMale30-39 y.o.All ethnicities

A Knight of the Round Table. Begins as Dennis, a lower class ‘mud gatherer’ who becomes Knighted and transforms into the dashing Sir Galahad. Also plays PRINCE HERBERT’S FATHER, a wealthy, brutish Yorkshire man’s man at odds with his sensitive son, THE BLACK KNIGHT who is always ready to duel despite multiple injuries. Strong bari-tenor singing required.

SIR BEDEVEREMale20-49 y.o.All ethnicities

A Knight of the Round Table. An inept scholar. Also plays DENNIS GALAHAD’S MOTHER, a shrill peasant woman, and CONCORDE, Sir Lancelot’s horse. No solo singing.

THE LADY OF THE LAKEFemale20-39 y.o.All ethnicities

A Diva. Strong, beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The leading lady of the show. Great singing voice is essential, as she must be able to sing effortlessly in many styles and vocal registers.
