About the project: Kalyan and his 8 months pregnant wife Renuka migrate to Canada from a small town in southern India in search of a better life, but what makes them quit half way and go back to their country even when people around them are flourishing. This is a passion project and an ultra low/no budget film hence looking for actors who are highly passionate about their craft and will be able to commit to the entire project since they are also the lead characters in the film. This project is also a good opportunity for someone who is looking to build a portfolio as an actor. Schedule: Directors are planning to begin filming in mid-late Feb 2025 and will be filming mostly on weekends for the majority of 2025. Submission Deadline December 14, 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be called for further auditions either in person or online, they will be given a scene in advance to perform for the audition. This is a multilingual film and the protagonists Kalyan and Renuka are from Southern India so diretcors are looking for actors for this role who can fluently read, write and speak either one of the following languages i.e Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil and are specifically from the region of southern India.

He is a Botany professor, socially awkward. Even though he is educated, he still has an orthodox mindset and strongly believes in male patriarchy. He is a loving husband and a caring father but also a very dominating husband at the same time. He thinks that it's his responsibility to be the breadwinner and doesn't treat his wife as an equal. He is ambitious with regards to his career but not very flexible in adjusting to the new system.
Renuka got married to kalyan in an arranged marriage. She is shy, intelligent, submissive, fun loving, confused, unorganised and underconfident. She is very tolerant when dealing with Kalyan and his male chauvinistic attitude because she has been exposed to it throughout her childhood within her family and in a way groomed to accept it. She is strong headed and does know how to take a stand but it's mostly to protect her family and marriage.
She is Renuka’s manager at her 1st job in Canada. She is a wife and a mother, strong woman, good leader, kind, helpful and fun loving. She helps Renuka and Kalyan set their feet in the new country. When renuka comes across rude customers, Gurleen instils confidence in her and gives her moral support. She is a Punjabi so we need someone who is from Punjab and is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and English.
