Singing Opportunities in "Pippin" Show

About the show: Embark on a musical journey with Pippin, where a young man’s quest for fulfillment unfolds to the infectious melodies of four-time Grammy winner and three-time Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz. In this coming-of-age tale, Pippin encounters battles, temptations, and political intrigue set against the backdrop of KWLT’s history. Additional information: Location: Waterloo, ON. Acting : You’ll do a short monologue. You can prepare one in advance, or grab one at the audition. Memorization is not necessary; you’ll be asked to deliver or read your monologue once your own way and then again with direction. Pieces from Pippin are discouraged. Vocals: Please prepare approximately 1 minute of a song that showcases your voice (bring your own music on a USB, or be prepared to sing a-capella). Memorization is not required. Pieces from Pippin are discouraged. Additionally, you will also be asked to sing a short familiar song alongside a group or a vocal coach to check your ability to carry a part. Dancing: At the 40 minute mark of every hour, there will be a short movement portion to the audition where you will be asked to learn a short choreographed routine and perform it in a small group. Please arrive before your audition slot or stay afterwards to ensure directors seen your moves! Dress comfortably, and be ready to move and have fun! Circus Arts (Optional): If you’ve indicated circus skills when signing up, you’ll have the option to demonstrate your skills, flexibility, or acrobatic abilities. You may prepare a piece in advance or improvise at the audition. Please bring your own equipment. Actors are required for all scheduled rehearsals, as well as the following mandatory dates: Read-Through: Monday, October 14th (Thanksgiving Monday) 7pm to 10pm. Tech Weekend: February 15-17, 2025, including the holiday Monday. Dress Rehearsal: February 18, 2025. Performances: Feb 20-23, and Feb 26 -March 2, 2025. Strike: Sunday March 2, 2025, until completed. Rehearsals will be 3-4 times per week, exact dates based on actor and crew availability, including at least one rehearsal on weekends. Vocal Range: Db3-Ab4. The ultimate 'ring leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. Excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience.
Vocal Range: G2-Ab4. The story's young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontent. Eventually finds love, and meaning in life, with Catherine and Theo.
Vocal Range: G2-E4. Pippin's demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride.
Fflexible, can be a spoken role. Pippin's half-brother.
Vocal Range: A3-F5. Pippin's conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit her and her son.
Vocal Range: E3-C5. Pippin's saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest.
Vocal Range: F#3-Db5. A widow and mother. She is a beautiful, and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him.
Vocal Range: Flexible. Catherine's son.
Vocal Range: All. Besides being members of the ensemble, the players assist their leader in the telling of Pippin’s story. Several have solo lines, and chances to amuse the audience with comedic interevention.
