Singing Auditions for "The Music Man" Show
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. Spring production of "The Music Man" is currently in need of performers. More details are below. About the project: The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. Additional information: Callbacks: November 21st 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Location: Kitchener, ON. REHEARSALS: Mondays & Thursdays 6:30pm-9:30pm Sundays 2:00pm-6:00pm Beginning Monday, January 9th 2025 Performers cast in The Music Man must be available for all required rehearsals. Please prepare 1-2 Minutes of a musical theatre song of your choice. Please no songs from The Music Man. There will be a group movement portion to your audition, please dress comfortably. Male Presenting. Bariton. The story's unsuspecting protagonist. A con man, traveling under the auspices of a salesman, he eventually falls in love with Marian Paroo. Charismatic and charming. Consent Advisory: This character kisses the character Marion Paroo on the lips.
Legit Soprano. The stuff town librarian and music teacher. She is an attractive young lady who eventually falls for Harold Hill. Stuck up. Curious. Female Presenting. Consent Advisory: This character kisses the character Harold Hill on the lips, hugs the characters of Mrs. Paroo and Winthrop Paroo.
Non Singing Role. A blustery politician who is all too "self-important." Begrudgingly married to Eulalie, he is skeptical of the town rumor mill. Male Presenting.
Alto. Mayor Shinn's peacock wife. A serial gossiper and snob, she has trouble keeping her opinions to herself. Gender: Female Presenting.
Mezzo. Cheerful and always plotting. An Irish widow and mother to Marian and Winthrop. Female Presenting. Consent Advisory: This character hugs the characters of Marion and Winthrop Paroo.
Tenor. Harold's chummy old friend and former con man, he now lives in River City and is trying to settle down. Male Presenting.
Heavy Dancing Role. An attractive, young man from the wrong side of town. He is secretly courting Zaneeta. Male Presenting.
Heavy Dancing Role. The Mayor's fresh-faced daughter who is in love with Tommy. Sweet and outgoing. Appears to be daffy at times. Female Presenting.
Non-Singing Role. A traveling salesmen who is on to Harold Hill's schemes. Tirelessy attempts to prove to everyone the true con man behind Harold Hill. Gender: Male Presenting.
