"The Sound of Music" show seeking cast. Please see more info below. About the project: The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria, and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. Additional info: What to Prepare: Prepare 32 to 64 bars of a song in the style of the show, and that shows off your vocal abilities. Please bring a karaoke track to accompany you. Bluetooth devices are available in the audition room. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes as some actors may be taken through a basic choreography audition. Some actors may also be asked to read from the script. Possible callbacks on October 9. No appointment is necessary, this is an open call. Registration is in the lobby and begins approximately 30 minutes before the audition time and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Video auditions: see the attachment. Rehearsals begin approximately a week after auditions and continue through January 17, 2025, and are conducted Monday through Friday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Some weekend rehearsals may be scheduled as well depending on the director’s needs. The rehearsal schedule will allow for breaks around Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season. (Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: B3.): Mistress of Novices – A follower of strict tradition and not a fan of nonsense; rich, authoritative soprano voice.
(Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: B3.): An empathetic nun who sees something good in Maria; her demeanor is more cheerful and forgiving; strong soprano voice.
(Vocal range top: Eb5, Vocal range bottom: B3.): The Mother Abbess’s third confident, perplexed about Maria.
