About the project: Log-line: When her siblings return from university for Thanksgiving, high school senior Miranda navigates conflicting guidance from her role models as she struggles to define her own identity Synopsis: Grade 12 student Miranda faces an identity crisis when her siblings return home for Thanksgiving weekend, as she reconsiders her plan to live at home after graduating. Erin, the middle child, encourages her to break free of her suburban upbringing and embrace change, and Dom, the eldest, offers support in her decision. Their mother, Carrie, senses her children growing apart from her. Miranda grapples with the responsibilities of adulthood and her fear of disappointing her family. Rate: ACTRA, Tier 4 production rate. Non-union TBD. Meals will be provided. Transportation stipend will be provided. Digital copy of the finished product will be sent to talent upon request for their reels. Additional information: MEDIA: Short Film (20 minutes), Drama. STATUS: Union & Non-Union. Supporting. Warm, soft-spoken, independent. The eldest son of a single mother, Dom has always taken on responsibility in caring for his siblings. Working on his Master’s at Guelph. He has a strong connection with Miranda. Think: Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws, Philip Seymour Hoffman in “Almost Famous”. TRANS & NON-BINARY TALENT ENCOURAGED.
Supporting. Confident, opinionated, impulsive. Two months into her first year of college in Montreal, Erin is enjoying her freedom after spending high school as a rule-follower. Believes she has found who she is after moving out and is excited to share that with her family. Dry, jaded and challenges authority. Think: Elle Fanning in “20th Century Women”, Margaret Qualley in “The Leftovers”.
Supporting. Anxious, caring, responsible. Carrie is a proud single mother of independent children. However, she struggles with feelings of abandonment and hopes to remain close to her kids. Think: Laurie Metcalf in “Lady Bird”, Tilda Swinton in “The Souvenir”.
