About the project: Synopsis: Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is the inspiring true story of Carole King’s journey from teenage songwriter to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The musical begins in 1959 when King arrives on Broadway at age 16 as a songwriter and follows her journey from schoolgirl to superstar. It includes her relationship with her husband and songwriting partner Gerry Goffin, their friendship with fellow songwriters Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, and her success as a solo artist. The musical features more than two dozen of King’s pop classics, including “You’ve Got a Friend”, “One Fine Day”, “So Far Away”, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, and “Natural Woman”. Additional info: Each auditionee is asked to prepare two songs (approximately 32 bars each) in the style of the show. You may sing selections from the show. An accompanist will be provided. Rehearsals will take place at The Governor’s School for the Arts, beginning Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and then move to The Sandler Center on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Public performances at the Sandler Center will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 8 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2 PM and 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 2:30 PM.
