Female presenting. Dr. Seward’s spinster sister who is occasionally detached from reality. Though she tipples sherry she is never intoxicated. She is mistress of the non- sequitur, unconsciously funny and a bit pathetic, but not played for pathos. In sum, Sybil is a slightly daft, cheerful romantic who’s never known romance.
Male presenting. He is frequently exasperated by (but affectionately patient with) his sister. Essentially serious and straightforward, he is capable of quiet, unexpected humor.
Male presenting. An inmate. Performer must be supple and strong for the exertion and simulated violence required. A true schizophrenic, he vacillates from lunatic ravings to perfectly rational conversation.
Male presenting. He is a likable, outgoing, well dressed, successful architect. He is Mina’s fiancé.
Female presenting. A gently warm-hearted girl, but her strange malady has made her listless, inattentive and oddly remote. During the play as she falls under Count Dracula’s supernatural power, her personality changes to that of a seductive, scheming young woman. She is becoming a Vampire.
Male presenting. His countenance is arresting, cruel and coldly handsome. He is evil incarnate, but he must have an appeal for the women in the play (and the audience). His manner is one of mockery yet he can entice and captivate. When he speaks his voice not only insinuates but threatens.
Male presenting. A dedicated scientist and a genial man except when crossed over an issue he deems important. Then geniality is replaced by sternness. Normally he looks at the world with a humorous eye. Must be played with dignity.
Male presenting. A young attendant at the asylum. Physically capable of subduing and controlling Renfield’s violent outbursts. Pleasant and hard-working.
Male presenting. Another young attendant at the asylum. Physically capable of subduing and controlling Renfield’s violent outbursts. Pleasant and hard-working.
