"42nd Street" The Musical Casting Performers
Theatre company is thrilled to continue the 2023-2024 Theatre Season with "42nd Street". Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: At the height of the Great Depression, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown PA, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star? The score is chock-full of Broadway standards, including "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me," "Dames," "We're In the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" and "Forty-Second Street." Rated PG. Rate: All roles receive a stipend. Additional info: Non-Union. REQUIREMENTS: Actors should prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show. An audition accompanist will be available but you may choose to use a backing (instrumental) track for your audition. You must provide your own sheet music and/or track. Actors auditioning for the role of Peggy Sawyer, Julian Marsh, or Dorothy Brock should prepare a one minute dramatic monologue. Actors auditioning for the role of Maggie Jones, or Bert Barry should prepare a one minute comedic monologue. A movement combination will be taught at the open call auditions. A tap dance combination will be taught for callbacks for all dancers and principles who are required to tap in the show. All ensemble, except where noted need to tap. Actors may be asked to attend callbacks after their audition. Callbacks will be held in person on Wednesday, January 11th from 6pm-10pm. Virtual auditions will be accepted: please see the attachment.
