About the project: Young Frankenstein is a hilarious stage adaptation of Mel Brooks' 1974 movie of the same name. The story begins in 1934 as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family’s Transylvania estate. Upon arriving, Frederick makes new friends with a hunchback sidekick, Igor, and a sexy science assistant, Inga. Madness ensues as Frederick tries to escape his family legacy. With a monster on the loose, an angry mob, and an unexpected visit from his fiance, what else could go wrong? This script is a satirical take on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the early 1900s horror genre. Additional info: Rehearsal Dates: August 1 - September 28, 2018 Performance Dates: September 28- October 1 October: 5-8, & 13-15, 2023 Material: Please share a 16-32 bar section from your best-prepared song. Directors encourage you to choose from jazz standards or contemporary musical theatre pieces. Please avoid songs from Young Frankenstein, they may be assigned at callbacks. Please bring your own music, written or pre-recorded, in your key. Directors will supply an accompanist and Bluetooth speaker. Sheet music is preferred. Any recorded music should be accompaniment or karaoke tracks. Please be ready for a short dance audition. Choreography will be taught at auditions. Dress appropriately. Cold readings will be assigned from the script.
