About the project: "Kinky boots is the big-hearted musical extravaganza that won six Tonys including Best Musical and features a joyous, Tony-winning score by the pop icon, Cyndi Lauper, and a hilarious, uplifting book by four time Tony winner, Harvey Fierstein. Charlie Price has reluctantly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they realized and discovered that when you change your mind, you can change your whole world." Additional info: What To Prepare: Please prepare a 90 second upbeat vocal audition. Songs from the show are allowed. Vocal auditions will be judged on vocal quality, as well as stage presence/performance. No a cappella auditions. You may sing to a karaoke track on your phone. They will provide an auxiliary cord. Dress comfortably for movement, as you will be asked to learn a brief dance combination. Some auditionees may be asked to read from the script or to attend a callback. Directors ask that you do not audition acapella. An accompanist will be present as well as a Bluetooth speaker. Audition Day: Registration begins at 5:00 pm. An audition form is required to be filled out upon arrival (resume and headshots are optional but appreciated). Auditions will begin at 6:00 pm. Auditions are private. Vocal auditions will be performed in front of the production team alone. (Tenor C3-B4) – a leading man, he is privileged, but likable, his father owns the shoe factory; he is handsome and loveable but there is a temper right under his skin; must have a great rock voice, ability to move, and be a strong actor.
(Tenor C3-B4) – an emotionally and physically challenging role that requires the soul of a Diva, a la Whitney Houston; must-have star presence and feel comfortable wearing everything from full glamour as a scene-stealing drag performer to nothing but boxing trunks; must have a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops; strong comedic actor.
(Baritone C3-F4) – Lola’s nemesis. Burly hypermasculine bear of a factory worker with a menacing physicality.
(Mezzo-Soprano Bb3/Gb5) – Charlie’s long-term girlfriend; sophisticated looks; she is a social climber, driven and uncompromising; she knows what she wants and goes for it.
(Mezzo-Soprano Bb3/Gb5) – quirky (not glamorous like Nicola) working-class girl who works in the shoe factory; funny and smart but has had bad luck with men; terrific comedic actress.
Officious office manager who will let loose her wild side when allowed. Lola’s love interest.

(Tenor C3/A4) – The drag performers who populate The Blue Angel Nightclub. The angels are an integral part of the show with big personalities. Must be willing to sing and dance in full drag with heels.
(All vocal ranges) – must be excellent pop/rock singers; they will cover featured ensemble roles as well as play factory workers, pub patrons, etc.; factory workers should look like real, everyday people and be able to move very well. The ensemble will also understudy principal roles.
