This co-production is based on the fresh and exciting adaptation created for Broadway in 2013. The musical boasts a score by the beloved team of Rodgers and Hammerstein that includes In My Own Little Corner, Ten Minutes Ago, Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful, A Lovely Night and more with a script by Douglas Carter Beane updated for modern sensibilities. Wishes and happy endings can come true. The tale has been told and retold from the Grimm Brothers tale to Disney’s animated version to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical created for television with Julie Andrews in 1957 to additional television versions with Lesley Ann Warren in 1957 and Brandy Norwood in 1997 to stage versions based on the 1957 television script to a movie version and more. In 2013 the tale debuted on Broadway with the original Rodgers and Hammerstein beloved score and a new script by Beane that was updated from the original by Oscar Hammerstein II and starred Laura Osnes as Cinderella, Santino Fontana as the Prince and Victoria Clark as the Fairy Godmother. The Theatre previously presented Cinderella twice in 1996 and 2007, both times utilizing the stage adaptation based on the Julie Andrews televised production. This will be the first time the Broadway re-scripted production will be presented by the group.
