About the project: "In the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ The Comeuppance, the self- proclaimed “Multi-Ethnic Reject Group” reconvenes for the first time in years to pregame for their twentieth high school reunion. They refamiliarize themselves with new versions of old selves over drinks, other substances, and a not-so-innocent game of truth-telling. As the evening progresses, Death looms over and through them in a thought experiment in personal suffering." A stepmother to the children of a well-known congressman. Death pluralizes itself in her life through a string of multiple miscarriages.
Visually impaired. The residue of her grandmother’s passing and a failed surgical attempt to save her eye has left her with a hesitancy for life, so much so that she refuses to attend the twenty-year reunion.
A derma surgeon whose marriage to a resentful general surgeon has perceivably driven her from a “straightedge” identity to a drinking habit that is cause for worry.
A medically discharged military serviceman. His accident has left him with seizure-inducing PTSD.
