The Format Of Love Is Blind
Every season follows an equal number of men and women participants who date each other over the course of the show. At the heart of the series is pods - small rooms where the participants talk to each other through speakers but do not see each other in visual detail. Following the initial speed dating format, the love-seeking hopefuls can have longer dates if they choose to, until ultimately they propose to the other half.
The first time the couple can actually meet each other in full is only after the proposal and its acceptance. Following the engagement, they head to a retreat for couples for one week, where they finally get the chance to get to know each other better, including physically. All engaged participant couples also meet others during their time at the resort.
Following the week at the resort, the couples can move together to an apartment, where they will have to live for three weeks. This is when the participant's friends and relatives also appear to meet the bride or the groom, respectively. During this period of time also each other's personal lives are explored in detail, all while planning their wedding for the finale of the season. Finally, the show culminates at the altar, where each participant has to opt whether to actually get legally married to one another.
After the couples' retreat, the engaged couples move together into an apartment complex where they live for the final three weeks of the experiment. At the apartments, they meet their partners' friends and families and learn more about their partners' lives, exploring issues such as finances, recreation, personal habits, and their ultimate primary residence. They also plan weddings to be held at the end of four weeks. During this wedding planning period, the women go wedding dress shopping and the men go suit shopping together, bringing a few friends or family members along. They also make choices such as the design and flavor of their wedding cake. At the altar, each participant decides whether to say "I do" and get legally married.
As of August 2025, globally across all of the shows, 120 couples have made it to the altar, with 48 actually getting married. Current statistics show that 58% of them remain together following the end of the show. This also gets explored in special reunion episodes of Love Is Blind, which have proven to be a huge hit with the fans of the series.
