Theater Audition for "Fiddler on the Roof" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Production of "Fiddler on the Roof" is looking for performers. Please, see the details below. Rate: Canadian Actors’ Equity Association (CAEA) and Non-CAEA artists may apply. As per CTA Clause 8:06 (F) Priority will be given to CAEA artists, who will be seen first at all audition calls. All Artists in this production will be engaged under the Canadian Theatre Agreement. CAEA members please indicate your membership on your resume and bring your card to your audition. Plays age 20 to 40. Must play the violin and be a strong mover.
Plays age 18 to 25, Vocal range: B3 – D5 Tevye's eldest daughter, who is madly in love with Motel. She is loyal to her family but typically challenges the town's traditions.
Plays age 18 to 25, Vocal range: B3 – E5. Tevye and Golde's daughter. Hodel falls for an outsider, Perchik, who challenges her family’s customs.
Plays age 15 to 20, Vocal range: B3 – D5 Chava is the scholarly daughter who loves to read. She falls in love and runs off with Fyedka, a Russian soldier, and breaks her father’s heart. Strong dance background required.
Plays age 30 to 60, Vocal range: C4 – Eb5. Lazar Wolf’s deceased wife. Appears in Tevye’s dream sequence as a frightening, comedic apparition. Appears in some scenes as a villager.
Plays age 40 to 65. Motel’s mother, very proud of her son. Appears in some scenes as a villager.
Plays age 20 to 30, Vocal range: B2 – E4. Perchik is a passionate, intellectual, and radical student who challenges the norms of the society. He sees education as the road to progress and is not afraid to express his revolutionary ideas.
Plays age 20 to 25. Fyedka, a strong young soldier, sees past his military obligations and falls in love with Chava. He challenges Tevye’s imposed silence towards him.
Plays age 40 to 50, Vocal range: C3 - F#4. A wealthy butcher and prominent member of the community. Loud, proud, and good-natured but deeply traditional. Lazar Wolf is used to getting his way and struggles when challenged. A larger-than-life comedic presence.
Plays age 50 to 70. The spiritual leader of the village. Wise, gentle, and measured, often offering thoughtful, understated guidance. A calm and respected presence.
Plays age 30 to 50. A Russian authority figure. Polite, restrained, friendly with Tevye, but chillingly complicit in the oppression of the Jewish community.
Plays age 20 to 30. A young Russian soldier, friend of Fyedka. Must be an athletic dancer.
Member of the Anatevka Jewish community and part of the village’s social hub. Plays age 35 to 60.
