About the project: "Into the Woods", is a classic musical intertwining the stories of beloved fairy-tale characters. Saugatuck Center for the Arts’ 2026 production explores the consequences of wishes, adventures into the unknown, and the intertwining lives of familiar characters in a rich, musical tapestry. Rate: $818 weekly minimum (SPT 9) Additional info: Preparation: Prepare two short songs (verse and chorus) in the style of the show; one may be selected for the audition Bring headshot and resume stapled together Other dates: First rehearsal: May 25, 2026 Open: June 19, 2026 Close: July 12, 2026 Total run: 7 weeks, 21 performances Other details: EPA procedures are in effect; an Equity Monitor will be provided Equity contracts prohibit discrimination and encourage diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, and abilities are encouraged to attend Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions If interested, attend the scheduled audition.

A commanding, sarcastic, unpredictable, funny, and powerful woman. The obsessive protector of Rapunzel; straightforward and aggressive. On the surface self-serving and charismatic; inwardly insecure and lonely. Strongly comedic, strong mix/belt, able to shift from grotesque to beautiful. Mezzo-soprano with high belt (F3–G5; can extend up to C6).
A kind, earnest, conflicted, and strong-willed woman with warm gentleness who is consistently mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Lyrical soprano, excellent storytelling through song, comedic. Soprano (G3–G5).
An endearing, naïve, enthusiastic, and impulsive boy. Capable of sincere emotional connection, but also misled by his lack of knowledge. Tenor (A2–G4).
(played young) — A feisty, mischievous, bold, and surprisingly tough little girl. Strong-willed, quick-witted, and fearless. Comedic, with excellent timing and vocal articulation. Mezzo-soprano with belt (B3–F5).
Prince: A vain, dramatic, handsome, and comically overconfident man. He’s the hero in his own life and was raised to be charming, not sincere. Must play exaggerated confidence and humor with ease. Wolf: Playfully predatory, seductive, and humorous. Must embody the “tempting unknown.” Baritone (B2–F4).
A handsome, goofy, earnest, and competitive young man. Loves to spar and challenge his brother. Strong comedic sensibility. Baritone (C#3–F4).
An innocent, sheltered, and emotional woman, prone to fits of hysteria as the show progresses. Legit soprano (B3–A5).
Narrator: Wry and commanding presence as the storyteller/outside observer. Mysterious Man: Broken, anxious, and secretive, trying to right a wrong. Emotionally resonant. Character baritone (G2–E4).
Steward: Bossy, rule-bound, somewhat cowardly with comedic energy and a sharp edge. Cinderella’s Father: Detached, timid, and henpecked. Minimal vocal work. Baritone.
